AAPI Alliance (Asian American Pacific Islander)

Bowling Club

BSA (Black Student Alliance)

Black Student Alliance has come together as a group of academically and socially excelling students to represent our African/African American community inside and outside of Overland High School. We, as a group, engage in community service, social justice, and academic achievement, all while creating a safe and accepting family environment.

CS Honor Society (Computer Science)

The purpose of the Overland Computer Science Honor Society shall be to cultivate thriving environments for success in computer science in the school community by encouraging students’ enthusiasm, honoring academic excellence, and promoting service. Students who complete at least one semester of an AP Computer Science course and maintain a B average will be invited to join the Overland CS Honor Society.

FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America)

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication—all necessary within the home and workplace. FCCLA is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members. It is the only Career and Technical in-school Student Organization with family as its central focus. Guitar Club

Every Thursday in guitar club, we play, learn, and teach guitar! We teach all skill levels, including those who have never even touched a guitar before. Bring a guitar if you have one, or just use ours if you don’t. There is no fee or requirements…all are welcome!
Habesha Club

HOSA + Pre-Med (Health Sciences)

The purpose of HOSA-Future Health Professionals is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program. The values of HOSA are leadership, learning, innovation and service. The skills learned in the classroom are tested at the State Conference in February. International Thespian Society

The International Thespian Society is an honors program that recognizes the work of Theatrical Artists. It takes an estimated 100 hours of after school work on shows and otherwise to be inducted into this program. Entry into the Thespian Society opens up access to the State Thespian Conference and the New York Trip.
Latinos United

Marching Band

All are welcome. If new to instrumental music the student should contact Mr. Monarch the school year prior to joining to learn how to play an instrument in order to be successful. The marching band plays at home football games, and is actively involved in parades and performances in the community and school. Students wishing to join colorguard should also contact Mr. Terry. The colorguard twirls flags to the music the marching band plays. Anyone can join colorguard.
MSA (Muslim Student Association)

Muslim Student Alliance is an opportunity to bring together the Muslim youth and their allies to get to know each other and to create a safe space for those who need it.
Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society)

Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. The purpose of the organization is to inspire a keen interest in mathematics, develop strong scholarship in the subject and promote the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students. To become a member, students must apply and have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, minimum mathematics GPA of 3.0 and be enrolled in a math course beyond Algebra 2. Applications can be found outside of Ms. Blinck's classroom, IP204.
National Honor Society (NHS)
Meetings: 1st & 3rd Thursdays @3:35pm

NHS is a nationwide organization that requires a minimum 3.5GPA and focuses on the four pillars of service, leadership, academics, and character. We do all we can to help where we can throughout the Overland community. You must complete 3 semesters of high school first in order to be eligible. Each spring we send notices (typically via email) to all academically eligible students informing them of the process to become a member for their junior & senior year. Information is submitted and reviewed by the NHS faculty council or teachers in the building and then students are notified whether or not they have been selected. If selected, a student and their family are invited to our annual induction ceremony held each April in the Auditorium to officially be inducted as members. Students must be inducted to be official members. Once members, students are required to sign a contract, pay dues of $15, attend 2 meetings a month, complete one mandatory service project each semester, and complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service. O-Crew is a leadership and mentoring program through which juniors and seniors link freshmen to clubs, activities, sports, and cultural and social events for a positive and connected high school experience. This club operates year-long and requires each member to go through an application process each spring.

The Overland BlazerBots will be building and programming Vex robots to complete in several Vex Robotics competitions this year. We will also be participating in the state TSA competition. All students are welcome to join regardless of experience.
Sisterhood

The Sisterhood is a club where we watch, discuss, read, and write– all about womanhood and what that means to us. Anyone is welcome to come, to recommend pieces to discuss, or share/create activities they want to see happen around our school. Our goal is to be more active around the school in uplifting the women and girls in our community.
Skills Club

Skills club is a place where students can learn in almost any area on the automobile, work on projects for the regional and state competition, repair their own car, learn skills in the trade, learn how to weld and fabricate, and have some fun.
Space & Aviation Club

The Space & Aviation Club fosters a community of students passionate about learning and exploring the vast and intriguing worlds of both the fields of astronomy and aviation. This community provides a forum for members to share their knowledge and expertise with each other, while also providing a platform for members to share their experiences, ask questions, and further in the disciplines of scientific study.
SOAR (Students Organized Against Racism)

SOAR empowers young people of all races to become catalysts for change through meaningful, ongoing conversations in our schools. As students are given a voice and opportunities for equity/anti-racism leadership, they become a more visible voice for change in their schools and build capacity to lead equity work with the support of school staff. Students are selected by principals, focusing on sophomores or juniors who aspire to be anti-racist leaders involved in equity and racial consciousness conversations.
Speech & Debate

Speech and Debate is a class and club that teaches its members writing, research, and oration skills. Students who participate in Speech and Debate have a 60% higher acceptance rate to top tier schools and a 20% increase in SAT and ACT scores. Speech and Debate will improve your confidence, teamwork, research, public speaking skills, character, and work ethic.
The Overland Speech and Debate team meets during 4A and after school on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:45-5 pm in 142D. Students may compete in different events that highlight their talents and enhance their public speaking skills. Students may participate in debate events to improve and demonstrate their argumentation and research skills while debating matters of public policy or philosophy. Public Address events feature a speech written by the student, either in advance or with limited prep, that can answer a question, share a belief, persuade an audience, or educate the listener on a variety of topics. Interpretation events allow students to showcase their acting skills while performing literature that is dramatic, humorous, or poetic. Students have the chance to win awards, earn scholarships, and compete on a national level. If you have any questions, reach out to the coaches, Ms. Olsen (colsen) and Ms. Barrette (ebarrette).
STEMblazers

TSA Technology Student Association
Meetings: Mondays 3:45–4:45 (1st Mondays are officers only)

TSA is the acronym for Technology Student Association. We are a co-curricular club that any student in the school can join. Plus, students also create projects in class - during the OHS Engineering Technologies Pathway classes: CAD, Engineering Drawing & Design, Architectural Drawing, Robotics, Tech Projects, and Sr. Projects. Some Events include students from the Media Arts Pathway (Video Production, On Demand Video, Photography) and the Computer Science Pathway, too. (Cyber Security, Coding.) TSA members use the Engineering Design Process to iteratively create models by hand with tools, with software and laser engravers, and with 3D printers. Members compete in club, regional, state and national events. Come create, build, test, and compete with us! TSA collects $20 for state and national dues. You and your parent/guardian must sign a participation agreement. Students should sign and then take home the Social Media Guidelines and have their parent/guardian read and sign on the student document, too.
